Sweet History

The Story

Named after its original owner, Henry Offerman, a Brooklyn resident and president of the Brooklyn Sugar Refining Company, The Offerman House is a true piece of Brooklyn history. The architectural gem was completed around 1893, and served as the home of the S. Wechsler & Brother department store, specializing in dry goods.
A seamless blend of old world flavor and modern style, The Offerman House’s imaginative conversion transforms the 1890s department store into a sophisticated urban playground, offering one-of-a-kind New York City loft living.

Modern Mix

Today, The Offerman House is a recognized landmark building, a proud representation of Romanesque Revival architecture. Its exterior silhouette is beautifully encased with limestone and ornamented by buff-colored brick and soft terra cotta, enduring and distinguishing touch points from the department store’s past.
With its unparalleled amenity offerings and authentic design details, The Offerman House rivals the finest hotels. Each of the 121 loft apartments features unique heritage elements from the original architecture.
